The New Employment Verification Act (NEVA)

The New Employee Verification Act (NEVA) (H.R. 2028) was re-introduced on April 23, 2009, to provide a superior, user-friendly electronic employment verification system by replacing the current paper-based and error-prone method of verifying employment eligibility. If adequately funded and fairly administered, this new system could eliminate virtually all unauthorized employment – thereby taking away a huge incentive for illegal immigration.  The HR Initiative for a Legal Workforce supports this much needed effort to transform our nation’s broken employment verification system.
